First produced in 1987, the Armand Basi brand of Barcelona was unwittingly perfectly timed to become the underground label of choice as acid house music became Balearic beat and party goers swapped abandoned warehouses and rural fields for the clubs and beaches of Ibiza.
This little known Catalan brand soon took parts of the UK by storm as word spread from those returning from the white isle of it’s popularity amongst those in the know. The independent designer constitution that was Wade Smith of Liverpool listed it amongst it’s all time best selling labels in this period.
Today as the label prepares to re launch in London with a new flagship store and website, Transalpino are nothing short of chuffed to be the first UK stockist due to our stores reputation for something different and understanding of the brands history here. Combine this with our cities love of the scene which made Basi so big and a couple of high profile local brand ambassadors, we believe the third Summer of love may be just around the corner.
